Empirical Research & Evidence

Empirical Research & Evidence, this project was created in Siberia from deep in its remote forests during the heart of winter. There I recorded asymmetrical diurnal temperature changes as empirical evidence of global warming, presented in black and white. I initiated this project back in 2013, when the temperature could reach -55 degrees at the same time each year. Unfortunately, this was not possible in 2022 due to the warming climate and the use of oil.

For several decades, human beings have exceeded the natural limits of growth, leading me to search for answers to increase environmental awareness through the collection of data. Through this methodical work, I aim to challenge conventional beliefs about overpopulation, pollution, disappearing small holding farmland, the contamination of rivers and underground water resources, melting ice sheets, and the ever-growing scrutiny of viable energy sources and raw materials.

A recurring theme throughout my explorations is that responsible, circular development and carefully examining data are essential for forming well-informed and accurate opinions that can be widely distributed. The lack of transparency raises fundamental questions about corporate governance and accountability reporting.

Monochrome recordings heighten our consciousness of our precarious existence. They are a memento mori of collapsing ice sheets, the black scars, and the weight of human activity that contribute to their separation and ultimate liquified resolution.
