Matthew Biederman and Pierce Warnecke launch new works in Montreal

Sedition is pleased to launch three new artworks by Matthew Biederman and Pierce Warnecke in an event in Montreal, Canada. The Perspection collection is available as a series of high-definition digital editions created exclusively for Sedition.

The collection launches at 5pm on 2 June 2016 at the Cinémathèque québécoise directly following the IMDA (International Marketplace for Digital Art) conference in the same venue, where Sedition’s Head of Programmes and Operations, Ashley Wong will be presenting on the distribution of digital art.

The Perspection collection is derived from a long term collaborative project which brings together the respective practices of the two artists. Biederman’s practice explores the ways in which human perception meets media saturation, while Warnecke explores digital and material decay. The project examines the relationship between the discrete unit and the continuum through layerings of sound and image.

Visitors to Montreal can experience Perspection (Cubed), a three-dimensional installation presented as a live audiovisual performance as part of MUTEK festival’s A/Visions 1 programme on 3 June 2016. The performance combines custom hardware and software with projections and speakers and is presented alongside NONOTAK, Centaure, Franck Vigroux and Kurt D’Haeseleer.

Biederman will also present work in Automata, a large scale group exhibition of the 3rd International Digital Art Biennial (BIAN). The exhibition brings together works which explore the idea of art made by machines, for machines. Automata takes place from 3 June - 3 July at Arsenal Contemporary Art in the Griffintown district of Montreal.
