King Offa Oak

It’s been a time of reflection connecting with nature gives us the opportunity to rethink our state of mind.

This Kaleidoscopic series of artworks is based around carbon sinks. The chemical element that forms compounds with various elements is a constituent of all known living tissues. Mirroring diverse forms of carbon, these superposable artworks have been created using the natural elements of each subject. It aims to stimulate the brain and promote positive feelings, concentration, and vitality.

The Carbon cycle comprises a sequence of events that is key to making the Earth sustain life. Human activities such as burning fossil fuels significantly influence the carbon cycle transferring carbon from the geosphere into the atmosphere. Natural forests provide crucial environmental services, but they are often cleared for pasture or annual crops, which may offer more immediate returns for landowners. Through these artworks, we are reminded of the importance of preserving natural systems and the impact of our actions on the planet.

"Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better."
