Fool's Gold is one of four artworks comprising the Back and Forth collection Alex Mcleod. Continuing his work in cycles, representing nature and opening portals, McLeod presents four perspectives of transition in his new collection Back and Forth.
In Fool's Gold viewers encounter with forms that resemble gold bubbly things that are moving and fluctuating individually. Similar to the forms in Mcleod's Bones 2, this time the work highlights the individuality of the coloured forms being freed from the constraint and containment of the artificial construction in Bones 2. Through their independent states, free flow movements after squishing in Bones 2, the humanness aspect of the forms and the bodily familiarity of the ease of breaking free manifest itself.
