Davide Prati is a visual artist and interactive developer born in Italy and currently based in Berlin.
Since 2015, he is developing a collection of open-source software to generate programmatically shapes of flowers, leaves and trees.
Since 2006, he is part of the art collective IOCOSE, collective that has exhibited internationally in different venues, including Venice Biennale (2011, 2013), Science Gallery (Dublin, 2012) Jeu de Paume (Paris, 2011), Transmediale (Berlin, 2013, 2015)
His research focuses on the implementation of primitive geometric forms in programming. In particular, He is interested in the forms suggesting the organic, such as animals, flowers or trees.
This implementation functions in two directions; on one side it joins together separate elements in order to obtain a complex structure. On the other side, a complex structure disassembles into abstract shapes.
The aim of this research is to explore human uncertainty in the recognition of the organic in the digital.
Davide Prati has worked for artists and studios including Tomás Saraceno Studio, FIELD.io, Studio NAND, Heinrich Dressel, Studio ANF and the Mechatronica music label.
