Emilio Vavarella was born in Italy in 1989. His artistic practice focuses on political philosophy and contemporary technological power. He graduated summa cum laude from both the University of Bologna with a BA in Visual, Cultural, and Media Studies, and from Iuav University of Venice with an MA in Visual Arts and study abroad fellowships at Bezalel Academy of Tel Aviv and Bilgi University of Istanbul. Emilio’s work has been exhibited at many of the most prestigious festivals of media arts, including ISEA, SIGGRAPH, EMAF, Media Art Biennale, JMAF and in prestigious locations such as EYEBEAM, Museo Nacional Bellas Artes in Santiago and the National Art Center of Tokyo. His work has been published in ARTFORUM, Flash Art, Leonardo, WIRED and Digital Culture, among others. He currently lives and works in New York.
