« We See Through » is an artwork on the regulation and processing of emotions, our conscious control, empathy, insight, prudence and reflectiveness. The balance between letting go and staying alert.
« Emotions are instinctive, involuntary reactions which upset the rational order of consciousness by their elemental outbursts. » ~Carl Jung, CW 9i, Para 497.
Two tracks were superposed -one composed by the artist, Nathalia, and one produced by A. Himitsu. The first, « All-seing», represents cold rationality, prudent awareness and omniscience. The second, « Adventures », embodies light-mindedness, letting go and lightness.
The colourful birds personify our emotions. They are stopped, sometimes repressed by our reason, and are constrained to move in saccadic motions. The darkness epitomises our regulating and conscious thoughts: the superego, always lingering in the back(ground) of our mind. The artwork is entirely made of SVGs, and animated through GSAP. It entailed +15000 lines of code.
