Chinese-born London-based artist Yao Cong (b.1992) examines the delicate construction of emotions, gender and sexuality. He frames the tensions involved in the development of identity politics as a progression from struggle toward tranquility, from chaos to coherence. He uses diverse media such as moving image, physical theatre, installation and photography in a constant process of exploration to create immersive artworks whose aesthetic arrangements communicate the formation of an identity.

Yao Cong graduated from a BA in Intermedia Art from the China Academy of Art in 2014 and is currently pursuing an MA in Fine Art from the Royal College of Art in London.
