Yorgos Papafigos was born in Larisa, Greece in 1989. He studied at the School of Fine
Art of the Visual and Applied Arts Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
MA Royal College of Art - Moving Image 2016-2018. He works in a variety of media and techniques. Conceptually, he is interested in the moving and the static as comments on the ephemeral; in rituals sourced from history, religion, myths and everyday experiences; and the tension between reality and the perception of virtual contemporary life. Yorgos also explore how immateriality through digital content and computer generated imagery affecting the way we experience crisis, our perception, emotions and relationships.
He has presented his work in the solo show Reality of Paradox at Kappatos Gallery,
Athens (2015) and in group shows in museums and galleries in Greece and abroad,
including 25th Drawing Show at Boston center for the arts(2017), Homeostasis Lab, The
Wrong - New Digital Art Biennial (2017), CICA Museum, South Korea (2017) He lives and works in London.
