Marie Vic Solo Exhibition Blowing Riccardo at Hotel Particulier New York

Sedition is pleased to launch a new collection Ten Blows by Marie Vic on Thursday, 5 March 2015. The launch coincides with the opening of Vic's solo exhibition featuring a multi-channel video installation, Blowing Riccardo at 47 Howard Street, New York presented by Hotel Particulier.

Blowing Riccardo is composed of nine looped films projected simultaneously throughout the space. The atmospheric experience is reinforced by a score made of sounds recorded in the desert mixed with an old tune. For this work, Vic borrowed a handful of Givenchy garments from a Parisian fashion collector and took them on a trip to an aircraft graveyard in the Mojave Desert, California. In the desert, Vic allowed the garments to wander endlessly and float among retired plane carcasses. The result is a series of glowing images that take the viewer into an anthropomorphic and hypnotic experience – a conjuring act of mise-en-scène.

In anticipation of the exhibition, a series of images carefully extracted from the video, entitled Blow-Up, will also be presented on billboards across Lower Manhattan.

The Ten Blow collection for Sedition, originally derived from Blowing Riccardo, features ten short video pieces that will be available in digital editions of 250 each.

The Blowing Riccardo exhibition will run from 6-8 March 2015 from 12 to 7pm daily at 47 Howard Street, New York. For more information, visit here.
