Marion Tampon-Lajariette: Echoes

Marion Tampon-Lajariette: Echoes

Marion Tampon-Lajarriette presents a new solo exhibition at the Villa Pia Museum in Porza, Switzerland. The exhibition is presented by the Erich Lindenberg Art Foundation is part of the 11th Biennial of the Image in Switzerland and runs from 27 October 2019 to 12 January 2020.

Echoes features a selection of works representing the last ten years of Tampon-Lajariette’s practice. The selected works foreground some of the main themes, motifs and areas of enquiry that have shaped the artist’s work since she began working in Switzerland a decade ago.

The works in the exhibition, which include video pieces, recordings of live performance, installations and 2D images, form part of Tampon-Lajariette’s long-term interest in the rupture between the ancient and the new, between the formation of traditional and contemporary culture - a rupture whose causes include complex arrangements of evolving concepts, political events and technologies.

The 11th Biennale of the Image is titled CRASH. The festival celebrates the work of photographers and artists whose work emphasises contrast, collision and sudden change. The exhibitions and events forming the Biennale take the moment of impact as focal point. They outward from the cataclysmic moment to trace the paths of the causative events that converged there. The Biennale is also about the necessary process - in turns traumatic and liberating - of rebirth and reconstruction that follows a rupture or crash.
