Quo Vadis?

Created with many layers of recorded moving images, Quo Vadis? (Where Are You Going?) depicts a dreamlike passage of a woman whose garments are imprinted by the silhouettes of people and the elements of the world she is crossing. The world seems to be in constant chaos and disarray while she is walking uninterrupted and calm.

The work was originally inspired by the depictions of the Virgin of Mercy, showing a group of people sheltering for protection under the outspread cloak of the Virgin Mary, which was especially popular in Italy from the 13th to 16th centuries.

Developed into a moving painting, the video humanises the mother of God and puts her in motion, establishing a new dynamic relationship between her and the rest of the world.
