Invincible is a new series of works by Sassan Behnam Bakhtiar featuring an animated video piece Joobin and nine collage images. Collectively they present an homage to the people of Iran. Iran’s recent history has been complicated, tangled and difficult. The works in the Invincible series, which layer photographs of Iranian people with collages based on traditional tapestry, present the pride, strength and respect of the people who have lived through that history. Bakhtiar remarks: “I have utmost admiration for our people with their eternal strength, deepness of souls, right mindset towards the world, constant will to fight for the good, high spirits, respect for others and the never ending smile on everyone’s faces. [...] This series of works is dedicated to the Iranian people and the fact that no matter what happens, we shall always remain strong, withstanding and conquering everything. It has been this way for thousands of years and will continue to be so. We are invincible.”
