For Buyers

If you don’t have a Sedition account yet, sign up here - it's free! - using your email address or your Facebook account. The registration takes less than a minute until you’re all set and ready to explore!

  • Discover Artworks & Place Bids

Browse the Trade platform and find an artwork that you would like to buy. There you will see both the asking price - how much the seller would like to receive for their artwork - and the current highest bid (if any). ‘Bids’ are the prices that buyers are willing to pay for an artwork.

From there, you can enter your bid (the amount you’re willing to pay to get the piece). If your bid is lower than the asking price of the seller, the seller will choose whether to accept your bid or not. If your bid matches the asking price of the seller, you will outright purchase the artwork.

  • Voilà - Enjoy your Artwork!

An artwork is sold when the seller accepts your bid or it is sold outright if your bid matches the asking price of the seller. As soon as the transaction is processed, you will automatically become the owner of the edition and your new artwork will instantly appear in your Vault along with its certificate of authenticity. Enjoy your artwork, gift it or trade it again if you wish - the world is your oyster!

It is up to the seller to decide whether or not they want to accept a bid.

The seller can only accept the highest bid for the artwork. Every time you place a bid, the bidding screen will show your position in the bidding queue in relation to other prospective buyers.

No.

For security and privacy reasons, we do not allow for a direct contact between prospective buyers and sellers.

Of course!

We will immediately notify you if someone outbids you and you can then edit your bid from the Marketplace tab of the Trade platform - all your bids are displayed at the top of the page.

Make sure to update your account preferences and select all relevant notifications for you to stay up-to-date.

Currently, no.

In the event that more than one edition of the same artwork is listed for sale, we will always show the edition with the lowest asking price.

Our Trade platform shows all artworks on Sedition that are available for Trade. In some cases, no owner put their edition on sale. You can still bid on those artworks and we will notify the owners that someone would like to buy their artwork for a given price. Any owner can then choose to ignore the bid (for instance, if they wish to keep their artwork), accept the bid (in which case the trade will take place) or make a counter offer by setting their own asking price.

Yes you can - up until your bid has been accepted by the seller, you can cancel or remove it. Once the seller accepts your bid however, the trade takes place and cannot be cancelled.

The Marketplace tab of the Trade platform shows you all your open bids listed at the top of the page. There you can edit or withdraw your bids. Every time you place a bid on an artwork, the bidding screen will show your position in the bidding queue in relation to other buyers.

No. All transactions that take place via the Trade platform are final.

When you make a bid, it is a binding offer to buy an artwork at a specified price that will be executed if the counter-party accepts your offer. It is your responsibility to make sure that you are willing to buy the artwork when you bid and that all your bids are up-to-date.

No, you cannot get a refund. But you can resell it via the Trade platform, gift it to your friend or a family member or keep it as a memory of the earlier days.

You can use a credit or a debit card. We recommend using a credit card, since Sedition’s trade platform utilizes a similar kind of behind-the-scenes mechanism that hotels use to ensure your reservation - a card authorization.
