I am an independent art curator based in the UK. A passion for contemporary, interactive and performance art has allowed me to develop skills as a creative thinker and organiser of artistic exhibitions. My current position at Turner Contemporary in Margate, Kent has allowed a personal expansion of knowledge of up-and-coming contemporary installation art, modern works, traditional paintings and controversial projects, as well as working closely in collaborative performance based works. It was a role as Intern of Public Programmes during April 2011, for the opening YOU ARE HERE series of events, that kick started my career in art curatorship. Currently I am employed by the Margate Gallery, Pie Factory and Turner Contemporary where for the past year my skills in marketing, installing exhibitions, devising projects, gallery management, scheduling and programming have been utilised and nurtured. I have worked with Proud Galleries, London, Folkestone Triennial, Estorick Art Gallery Islington and Limbo Arts within the United Kingdom; and also with the Nicholson Museum, Sydney and the Fairfield City Museum and Gallery in NSW, Australia. Completing a BA in Design for Theatre and Television in 2007 from Charles Sturt University, NSW, I then went on to work as a props & lighting designer and set maker for various Theatrical productions in Sydney and in the design department of the Australian Broadcasting Commission. The Master of Art Curatorship degree completed in June 2011 from The University of Sydney has enabled me to network in the art field in Australia and England, gaining invaluable curatorial skills for all kinds of artistic exhibitions and programmes. Having a joint English and Australian ancestry has I believe made me unique; it is a knowledge of multicultural Diaspora art from the Western Suburbs of Australia where I am from, and where over 110 different languages and dialects are spoken that has been my greatest influence. Currently I am based in Margate, a seaside town based on the South East coast of England, UK. Margate is currently undergoing a vast cultural regeneration plan by implementing new galleries and arts opportunities and this has allowed me to build contacts working with extremely talented people.
