The Department of Photography and Imaging at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts is a four-year B.F.A. program situated within the Institute of Emerging Media at New York University. The program centers on the making and understanding of images, offering students both the intensive focus of an arts curriculum while demanding a broad grounding in the liberal arts. Our department embraces multiple perspectives, with majors exploring photographic imagery as personal and cultural expression while working in virtually all modes of analog, digital photo-based, and post-photographic 3D simulation image-making in new media and multimedia.
