Saatchi Gallery Magazine

London, England, United Kingdom
A magazine which can actually think for itself - excellent stuff”. Tom Hodgkinson Founded by art writer Gemma de Cruz and music journalist (and Brian Eno biographer), David Sheppard, Art & Music fits happily alongside other hip, iconoclastic cultural magazines such as iD, The Idler, The Wire, Bearded, The Believer et al, while remaining nonetheless, completely unique. The USP is self-explanatory; it’s a journal which appeals to anyone whose taste in popular culture’s is not ghettoized into a single discipline and offers a quality of writing, photography and design more associable with publications three times its price. Launched in March 2008 as an eye-catching but never gimmicky, fanzine-minded independent quarterly, Art & Music proved an instant success with the cognoscenti of London’s thrumming art world and independent music scenes. After two highly-prized issues it was snapped up by Charles Saatchi who installed it as the in-house magazine for his expansive new west London gallery. Despite the stellar imprimatur, the magazine’s editorial remit remains totally independent and fearlessly original, covering a gamut of feature subjects, from interviews with heavyweight, established names to ‘you-saw-it-here-first’ showcases for emerging talent. The Saatchi Gallery Magazine Art & Music editorial team comprises founders Gemma de Cruz and David Sheppard. The magazine is designed by Miscano Design, London. http://www.saatchigallery.com/artandmusic/
