Rooting: Infrastructure

Rooting: Infrastructure is a new artwork by François Quévillon on Sedition. The work is launching alongside Quévillon's collection of video works, Météores.

François Quévillon is a Montreal-based artist whose work examines the interactions among environmental changes, societal issues and technological developments. Addressing planetary disruptions as well as those affecting contemporary media, his work explores the phenomena of the world and of perception by implementing processes sensitive to variable conditions of the environment and human interference.

Alternating between gravitating around an abyss and discovering the proliferation of roots on a fractured sidewalk and a heaving pavement, Rooting invites the viewer to delve into intertwined natural and urban elements that are turned inside out and upside down. The work follows an artist residency and an exhibition that François Quévillon made in Mexico City at the end of 2019 for Connecting the Dots.
