I have worked as an artist for over 25 years in visual art, theatre and film.
PHILOSOPHY “Mena ka hiahia koe ki te whakapono i nga wa kei te heke mai, me tu koe ki mua o nga pokohiwi o mua” (To have faith in the future, you must first stand on the shoulders of the past). I strive every day to make the world I live in a healthy, safe, more vibrant and more equitable environment for my children to inherit. I do that by applying what I learned in the past and by honouring the people who taught me. I believe in the power of art and the positive impact it has on society. It is incumbent on creative leaders to act with integrity, artistry and manaakitanga, recognising that art is in the heart of all our communities. "
Grae is one of the most collected artists in the Wallace Arts Collection, the largest private collection of New Zealand Contemporary Art.
"My artwork has a distinctly SCI-FI bent. I like to use every day visual inspirations to investigate ideas and themes presented by science."
Over the last few years Grae has taken on the role of Kaiwhakahaere (Operations Manager and Curator) for Lake House Arts in Takapuna, Auckland New Zealand, now one of Auckland's Top Five Arts Centres in the Region, with 25 artists in residence, a popular cafe and delivering over 600 art programmes per year, with over 65,000 visitors and participants per annum.
