Snow Yunxue Fu: Liminality Liminoid, Niio x AI Art Prize, Silicon Valet, Supernova

Work by Snow Yunxue Fu has recently been exhibited in a solo show at Multispace NYC and shortlisted as part of Niio x AI Art Prizes 2019/20. Her work is also part of an extension to Well Now WTF, the online group exhibition organised by Silicon Valet and has been featured by Supernova Denver.

Ending this week, Fu presented a solo exhibition of works at Multispace NYC in Brooklyn. The exhibition, titled Liminality Liminoid, was displayed over 2,000 square feet of space in the Chinatown gallery, and featured new and selected historic artworks including installations, projections and VR projects. The show gave insight into the artist’s methods, techniques and influences, encapsulating the particular position Fu’s work embodies within New Media art. The exhibition’s curation referenced Plato’s allegory of the cave, connecting it with contemporary imaging technologies. An artist talk and virtual exhibition tour by Fu, hosted by MoCDA, is available to watch on Youtube at the bottom of this article.

From 1 May Fu will join artists including Carla Gannis, Claudia Hart , Eva Papamargariti , LoVid , Alex McLeod and Yoshi Sodeoka for Well Now WTF: More WTF, an extension of Silicon Valet’s online GIF art show Well Now WTF. The exhibition is accompanied by a variety of online events including talks, panel discussions, Tumblr tours and GIF house parties - to follow these events, join Silicon Valet on Twitch

Work by Fu has recently also been shortlisted for the Niio x AI Art Prizes 2019/2020. The work will be featured in the Niio catalog and video art program alongside work by top prizewinners Jakob Kudsk Steensen, Chris Kore, Pascual Sisto, Eyal Gruss, B_No_Source [live] and the other shortlisted artists; stay tuned for more details. Meanwhile Fu’s acclaimed video piece Karst was recently featured by Supernova Denver, Denver’s annual festival dedicated to digital animation as part of a celebration of recently exhibited artworks. Karst was the first in a series of works to be featured by the festival, which is currently accepting submissions for Supernova 2020. The theme of this year’s festival is World on Fire and submissions are being accepted until 31 July.
