I am a professional photographer in Denver shooting editorial, commercial and fine art Photography. I am best known locally for photographing most of the feature stories and covers for Westword magazine over the last 24 years. I have been featured in Voyage Denver, The Nervous Breakdown, Action Figures, Self Made and appeared on the Untitled Arts Show, and have been acknowledged by Peerspace as one of Denver's 5 best fine art photographers and by CORE Media as Denver's “Best Commercial Photographer”.
I have a studio/Gallery in the heart of Denver's Santa-Fe arts district which has a very popular First Friday Arts walk. About 10 years ago I realized this was a great opportunity to photograph unique and interesting people and took advantage of this situation by putting up a background or building a set and asking people to pose for me and I called this project Portrait Parade.
Since then Portrait Parade has grown into a massive personal project. Sometimes I build sets and together with my subjects we create characters who inhabit a scene. Other times I go on location and set up a light and document communities or subcultures. I have come to realize that the Portrait Parade experience has become transformative for many of my subjects. The experience of a portrait parade is often more important than the images.
