RCA collaborates with Subject Matter & Sedition to present The Campaign
Join The Nielsen Movement by Jazbo von Magius Gross

The Royal College of Art in collaboration with Subject Matter and Sedition presents The Campaign, an exhibition by a select group of students at the Dyson Gallery in Battersea. All works in the exhibition are available for purchase, some as photographic prints, others as digital limited editions. Sedition is pleased to support the exhibition by presenting works by five artists from the show: Ben McDonnell, Jinjoon Lee, Joshua Leon, Shigetoshi Furutani and Steven Aishman. All proceeds raised will benefit the RCA’s Fine Art Bursary Fund.

The Campaign examines the changing condition of an art world in flux. The works in the exhibition examine creativity at a moment in history where the methods for managing and sharing information are rapidly changing, and asks whether there is space for a notion of ‘pure creativity’ in a world seemingly dominated by ephemera. The curatorial aim is to start a debate which, in reflecting on current structures, generates new spaces of potentiality.

The exhibition is part of a wider programme of talks and workshops with the aim of supporting the continuing education of artists. As part of the project, Subject Matter has organised a series workshops for RCA students with inspiring figures from the art world, including Sedition’s Director, Rory Blain, whose activities are changing the way art is produced and understood.

All three partners share a common goal: to support and develop the artists of the future. The Fine Art Bursary Fund enables the RCA to support the careers of talented artists and researchers and to encourage their practice by funding materials, travel opportunities and residencies, as well as supporting those who could otherwise not afford to attend the College.
